The February edition of Sword and Spirit has been posted. In “Ukemi: A Comparison,” Itten Dojo chief instructor Robert Wolfe responds to a question posed by Mr. Chris Gonzales, in which he requested some details of my assertion in a social media post that the ukemi we are learning from Suino Sensei for use in Nihon Jujutsu waza and kata is intrinsically superior to our legacy style of ukemi.   Take a three-minute video tour of Itten Dojo, at https://youtu.be/gRbJU2x6JDg .  Our facility has three main areas: the entrance with visitor’s seating and a tokonoma (an alcove for display of ikebana flower arrangements and kakemono hanging scrolls); the primary training area with our integrated floating floor and mat (the most sophisticated mat system in the area); and the auxiliary training area with hardwood floor, with access to the dressing rooms and office. Both training areas are video conferencing capable, so that we can attend remote classes with our instructor and/or offer online instruction from here. #ittendojo #iaido #jujutsu #kenjutsu #shodo
