Something different from typical martial arts

A year I never expected

Went into the dojo today to show some moral support for two of my fellow iaido practitioners as they were looking to achieve rank in their first examinations. What I wasn’t expecting was the surprise test and promotion that I received as well: 4th-kyu in Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu. I began 2023 with very low expectations for myself. I set the bar extremely low in anticipation of another mediocre year. That was before I enrolled in the dojo. What followed was arguably the greatest year I’ve had in well over a decade! Martial arts are real, my friends! They exist and they are waiting for you to take up study and practice of them. DO IT! You will absolutely be astonished with the benefits, both to your physical as well as your mental well-being. A huge thank you to Suino Sensei of the Japanese Martial Arts Center for his effortless ability to both teach and bring joy to learning. And to Wolfe Sensei for his continued mentorship and confidence in me.
