Our dojo hosts a variety of special seminars in the course of a typical year. Some seminars are limited to members of the dojo or the ryu, while others are open to the general public. Depending on circumstances, there may or may not be registration fees, but spectators are usually welcome at no charge. January 28, 2018: A special, guest seminar — Ashtanga Yoga with Chelsea Parcels. Details and registration information will be posted by January 10th.
July 7/8, 2018: Nicklaus Suino, Director of Training at the Japanese Martial Arts Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Managing Director of the Shudokan Martial Arts Association, visits for a special seminar focusing on iaido, judo, and jujutsu.
July 27/28, 2018: Ono-ha Itto-ryu Kenjutsu Sokaku-den summer intensive training with Uhler Sensei and Hashimoto Sensei. Participation is open to members of the Itto-ryu kenjutsukai and invited guests.
August 9, 2018: Musicar Sensei, dojocho of the Daiseki Dojo in Palatine, Illinois, visits for three sessions: open mat for yudansha only (2:00 – 4:00 p.m.), kenjutsu (6:15 – 7:15 p.m.), and aikijutsu (7:30 – 8:30 p.m.). Evening sessions open to all members of the dojo.
August 11, 2018: Itto Tenshin-ryu kenjutsu mini-seminar with Rajguru Sensei, hosted by Yugen Dojo in Annapolis, Maryland. Mudansha session 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.; yudansha 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
March 16 and 17, 2019: Itten Dojo hosts the 2019 Taikai of the Yamate-ryu, with Maren Sensei instructing. Details available soon.
